One of the services I provide is working with CEO’s who are running teams that for many reasons are lacking energy, motivation and drive. As a result they are experiencing inconsistent production and less than positive attitudes. CEO’s hire to me to explore the issues and implement leadership technique to support the necessary recourse and recharge needed to return to a healthy ROI.
One critical discovery I made while running my staffing business, was that my team took their cue from me. It was up to me as CEO to mentor, motivate and lead consistently. When I was off, they were off. When I was strong, they were strong. It never failed to amaze me, as often as I denied the correlation.
I knew I was very successful at selling and growing sales. But I never really studied what it takes to successfully lead. I hired Bob Logan, an Executive Coach. Bob taught me how to be credible as a CEO. He held me accountable to look at my own leadership style and behaviors and their impact on my front and bottom lines.
What I discovered was enlightening. I was all about “the bottom line”. Every conversation I had with my team was about how we were either meeting or not meeting our sales goals. I spoiled them constantly with meals, gifts and kudos, but I was lacking in a very critical area of leadership….Core Ideals.
Core Ideals. Just like you and I, people are motivated by something other than external or material things. That other thing is called Core Ideals. Core Ideals are the internal values unique to each of us. Core Ideals are the buttons that motivate people to be happy at work, produce more and feel balanced in their personal and professional life. Some core ideals are spending time with family, being a leader, giving back, being wealthy and being more spiritual.
When a business identify's their core ideals they begin to operate with more energy, production and stamina. The concious awareness and attention to the relationship between the Return of Core Ideals and Return on Investment is The Complete ROI tm.
Whole Foods Market printed their 5 core values on the side of their paper bags...what does that tell you? Just walk into a Whole Foods Market and watch their employees faces as they do their jobs. They smile...genuinely!
The result is the front line and bottom lines of your company work in balance. The result is increased sales, decreased burnout and turnover. Once there is an investment in The Complete ROI tm sales people become more energized, creative and confident. Teams in general gain momentum and synergy. Mentors and mentees develop a cohesive consistent working relationship which leads to succession planning and employee growth.
